National Recording Artist Tracy Worth, dubbed "the sweet voice
of gospel music," has stepped onto a vast new frontier by embracing a variety of musical influences with her own distinctive
creativity and style. Armed with her signature angelic voice and melodic storytelling, Tracy delivers a blend of Contemporary,
Inspirational and Traditional gospel with hints of soul, jazz, and pop.
Tracy's love of singing began when
her piano teacher, also the church choir director, asked her to sing for the annual Easter program. Although Tracy was
only seven years old, it was a defining moment. By age 12, she was the lead director of her church's adult and youth
choirs, and a Sunday school teacher.
Tracy's world collapsed when she was just sixteen, and she experienced a
crisis of faith that spanned nearly a decade. Through those years, Tracy kept singing, working and traveling.
During that time she also became the lead female vocalist for one of Chicago's Premier Big Bands, "The Morris Ellis Orchestra".
But, she knew there was a clear path marked for her, she couldn't make her way to it. In 2000, the loss of sight in
one eye gave Tracy the clarity she needed to rededicate her life to God and "Count it All Joy". A leap of
faith and a first place win at the Gospel Music Association's annual Estes Park music convention gave Tracy the courage and
conviction to begin her gospel music journey in earnest.
Ushered on to the gospel music scene by Melvin
Williams of the incomparable Williams Brothers, Tracy has been blessed to share her music with a variety of audiences, with
appearances on TBN's Praise the Lord, the Hollywood Gospel Insider Award Show, Nashville's "GMA Week," Shirley Caesar's
Conference, Dr. Bobby Cartwright's Gospel Superfest and Ambassador Bobby Jones' International Gospel Artist Retreat.
She has sung on several Bobby Jones television programs, including Gospel Explosion and BET's Bobby Jones Gospel Hour.
The video of Tracy's duet with Melvin Williams, "I'll Follow You", earned her a Stellar Award nomination.
Her music videos aired nationally on BET Video Gospel and the WORD Network, in addition to a host of regional programs.
They can also be seen on YouTube. Her debut album, Don't Let Heaven Pass You By, which featured "I'll Follow You,"
was dubbed by The Black Gospel Blog (TBGB) as "tuneful...contemporary without being copycat."
Tracy recently fulfilled another lifelong dream as a radio co-host
on historic WVON's "Joy and Jubilation", a program dedicated to the history of gospel music. Together with
hosts Reggie Miles, Yvonne Wesley, and Rev. Stanley Keeble, they presented biographical information on gospel pioneers.
Tracy's songwriting talent is showcased on "Say It Out Loud", a dynamic duet between Melvin Williams and Irocc,
for Melvin Williams' Love Like Crazy Project.
Tracy
holds a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science. In 2008, she was awarded a grant from the State of Illinois
Library to host a series of music business workshops that included involvement from BMI, ASCAP, SEASAC, and NARAS. This
endeavor was made more powerful because of the colleagues and friends who were willing to share their time, talent, and knowledge
with participants: ProjectL3.org. Tracy is committed to the educational advancement of music professionals and
despite all of her many interests and obligations. Now,
living with Multiple Sclerosis and a Breast Cancer Survivor, Tracy is focused on being a ray of sunshine for those fighting
seemingly unsurmountable challenges. She hopes her melodies, courage, faith, and love of God is a testament
in action!
